Shell Knob, MO - Support Assistance- For the last few years, the East Independence Church of Christ has assisted the Shell Knob Church of Christ which is located in the southern part of MO. Shell Knob is a small community located in the Ozarks recreational area.

The Church in Shell knob suffered the loss of their building to fire a few years ago and has worked to construct a new facility on land that had already been purchased by the congregation in that community. The East Independence Church of Christ has provided labor, materials, pews and financial assistance for the support of a full time preacher as the Church in Shell Knob worked towards completion of their facility. While work was ongoing towards completion of the building, they met in a local Laundromat. They recently moved into their new facility for worship and classes as they complete work on remaining items.

Being the only congregation consisting of small number of people in a retirement community caused them to focus on the goal of completion of the building without taking on a long term debt. The Elders viewed this as an opportunity to provide Shell Knob and the smaller surrounding communities with a location where the Church can meet and encourage one another, and take the message to others. Growth potential is ripe for this area and we look forward to seeing the Church expand in this area.
