Sturgis, South Dakota - Support Assistance- For a number of years, the East Independence Church of Christ has been instrumental in financial assistance to the Sturgis, South Dakota Church of Christ. Sturgis is a small community of about 5,000 in South Dakota. The Elders view this as an opportunity to provide Sturgis and the smaller surrounding communities with a location where the Church can meet and encourage one another, and take the message to others. The Sturgis Church of Christ is located in a community where jobs are scarce for the small population, and salaries for available jobs are low. Because of this, the Church in Sturgis experiences a larger amount of those moving to other areas to find employment than most areas. Even though there are many who move away from the congregation in that area, the members of the Sturgis Church of Christ are hard workers in the kingdom and convert many people in their area each year. This is a good work that is not only working to evangelize the community of Sturgis, but is sending solid Christians to other parts of the United States to join in the work of taking the Gospel to the new communities they choose to live in
